Awami League (AL) Presidium member Mohammed Nasim on Friday said that BNP would perhaps join the next general election staying away from doing the earlier mistake of boycotting the polls.
“Seeing their body language after the Thursday’s four-hour long dialogue, it seems perhaps this time BNP would not make the same mistake and join the election instead,” he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) auditorium marking ‘National Volunteer Blood Donation and Posthumous Eye Donation Day’.
Urging the BNP leaders to participate in the election, Nasim, also the Health and Family Welfare Minister said, “Last time you gave us walkover, for this, you suffered a lot…if any party does not join polls we would win automatically.”
“It would be a great mistake if this time you (BNP) give us walkover,” he added.
The senior AL leader said “Oikkofront placed their seven point demands including the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, but we want to request them not to go beyond the constitutions.”
Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad, resident of Sandhani Central Eye Donation Samity Prof. Dr. A. K. M. Salek and its Secretary General Dr M Joynal Abedin were present, among others.
