In a bid to inspire the meritorious students and appreciate their talents, Berger paints Limited distributed a number of annual scholarships and ‘Berger Student of the Year’ award among the students of Fine Arts Faculty of Dhaka University on Sunday.
DU vice-chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzaman as the chief guest distributed the award at a ceremony at Fine Arts Faculty on DU premises. Berger Paints managing director Rupali Chowdhury was present at the occasion as special guest.
Diponkar Saha from Printmaking Department received the student of the year award as the highest CGPA scorer in the honours level. Tariqul Islam (drawing and painting), Rasel Rana (graphic design), Diponkar Saha (printmaking), Utpal Kumar (oriental art), Sourav Das (ceramics), Sushmita Mukherjee Mishti (sculpture), and Rezaul Karim were also given scholarships for securing first position at BFA (Honours) examination in 20116-17 sessions. After the award distribution ceremony, the DU VC inaugurated a painting exhibition at Zainul Gallery. The exhibition would be opened from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day until October 10.
