Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday said BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman made themselves
minus from politics as they failed to show courage in politics, reports BSS.
“They (Begum Zia and Tarique) made themselves minus from politics…If they had not indulged in corruption, they would not be convicted.
BNP established themselves as a corrupt party by dropping section 7 from the party’s constitution,” he said, at a press conference held at the AL president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi.
AL Joint General Secretaries Dr Dipu Moni and Abdur Rahman, Organizing Secretaries BM Mozammel Haque, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and Forests and Environment Affairs Secretary Delowar Hossain, among others, were present.
It does not need for the Election Commission to make Begum Zia and Tarique Rahman minus from politics through changing RPO, Quader said.
The next general election, he said, would be held in due time as per the Constitution.
