Bank Asia Ltd has officially inaugurated the Bank Asia Tower Branch at the heart of the city at Kawran Bazar on Wednesday at a grand inauguration event held at the tower building premises.
The 127th branch of the bank that started its operation at “Bank Asia Tower Branch” which is built at the banks’ own property. Starting operation in 1999, Bank Asia set one-of-a-kind milestone by acquiring the business operations of a foreign bank, the Canadian Bank of Nova Scotia in Dhaka, first in the banking history of Bangladesh.
It also acquired the Bangladesh operations of Muslim Commercial Bank Ltd (MCB), a Pakistani bank. In the year 2003, the Bank made a record IPO (Initial Public Offering) subscription of 55 times, in the history of Bangladesh’s capital market, claimed the bank in a statement issued on Wednesday.
A. Rouf Chowdhury, Chairman of Bank Asia inaugurated the branch as the chief guest. Anisur Rahman Sinha, former chairman of Bank Asia, Ms. Zakia Rouf Chowdhury, Executive Vice Chairman, Rangs Group, Rumee A. Hossain, Chairman, Executive Committee of the Board, Md. Arfan Ali, President & Managing Director of Bank Asia, Directors Dilwar H. Chowdhury and Enam Chowdhury, Ms. Amiran Hossain, Director of Rangs Group, Syed Anisul Huq, former president and Managing Director of Bank Asia deputy managing directors, senior executives, among others, were present.

The third generation public limited commercial bank is seemingly working towards its vision of a poverty free Bangladesh in course of a generation in the new millennium, reflecting the national dream through integrated contribution in the national economy.
