The Bangladesh women’s football teams will take on their inaugural match today against top seed Myanmar in the Asian Qualifier (Round-1) for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon. The match will kick off at 6 PM.
Bangladesh, placed in Asian Group C for the Olympics Qualifiers with four higher ranked teams —hosts Myanmar (Ranking 44th), India (59th) and Nepal (109). In the remaining Group C matches, Bangladesh will play India on Sunday (Nov 11) at 3 pm and meet Nepal on Tuesday (Nov 13) also at 3 pm at the same venue.
Head coach of Bangladesh team Golam Robbai Chotan looking forward to the first game and wants to utilize their valuable experiences gained in Dushanbe very recently. Bangladesh captain Sebina Khatun wants to play positively. Players of Bangladesh are in sound healthy, fully fit without any injury and staying at Hotel Inya Lake in Yangon, according a message received here from Yangon.
Earlier, a 27-member Bangladesh Women’s Football team, comprising 20 boaters and seven officials, reached Myanmar capital Yangon on Monday evening with a hope to gather experiences from the Asian Qualifiers.
