Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Wednesday said Bangladesh has emerged as a role model in practicing parliamentary democracy under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Sheikh Hasina has introduced a 30-minute question-answer session in parliament for the prime minister for the first time. She added new dimensions to the parliamentary standing committee activities by amending the rules of procedure to ensure transparency and accountability in the activities of the executive,” she said. Shirin Sharmin came up with the remarks when German Parliament Vice-President Claudia Roth paid a courtesy on her at JS Bhaban, said an official release, reports BSS.
During the meeting, they discussed about the economic development and women empowerment in Bangladesh, the release added.
