A pilot of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) was killed as a training aircraft crashed in Madhupur of Tangail on Friday afternoon.
Rezaul Karim, assistant director of Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), said the F-7 aircraft crashed around 3pm during an air exercise.
The deceased pilot was identified as Arif Ahmed Dipu who was a wing commander of BAF.
Dipu was the only person aboard who was flying the plane at the time of crash, confirmed Rezaul Karim.
The F-7 aircraft crashed into a Gozari forest inside Telki Firing Range in Rasulpur area of Madhupur on Friday afternoon and burst into flames, leaving the pilot dead on the spot.
The reason behind the aircraft crash was not known immediately.
A rescue operation was going on in the area till filing of the report.
