A vibrant atmosphere has been created on Dhaka University campus centering the polls to Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) as the polls have knocked the door after 29 years. The polls will take place on March 11.
Students are enchanted ahead of the DUCSU elections. “I am very much happy and enjoying the changed atmosphere,” Nazrul Islam, a student of sociology department, told the Bangladesh Post.
Sadiya Afroza, a resident of Shamsunnahar Hall, expressed her happiness. She expects peaceful and congenial atmosphere on the campus.
Candidates for DUCSU polls are now busy in exchanging greetings with general students. On Thursday, the aspirants are seen talking with voters and exchange their views to drum up support for them. Aspirants and activists of different student organisations were seen talking with students to know about their demand.
VP candidate from Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) panel Rezwanul Haque Shovon was seen exchanging greeting with general students. He said, “We will start our formal campaigning from March 3. We are now busy with students to know their demands and problems.”
On the other hand, JCD vice president candidate Mustafizur Rahman also started view exchange with students.
He was seen to do such kind of view exchange with students on the campus. Mustafiz said, “We are talking to students to share our aim and dream. If the election is fair, we will win.”
Left leaning alliance candidates also started their campaign. Liton Nandi, VP candidate from the left leaning alliance, said, “We are going to the students and getting positive response from them”.
Meanwhile, ARM Asifur Rahman, a student of Mass Communication of Journalism Department of Dhaka University, would vie for general secretary (GS) post. He had been working with Daily Prothom Alo as staff reporter. He served as president of Dhaka University Journalists Association (DUJA) for two terms. Asif resigned from Prothom Alo on March 25.
