Bangladesh Army has set up seven temporary floating bridges of different lengths over the Turag River in Tongi, aimed at facilitating better transportation for the devoted Muslims for the upcoming Biswa Ijtema 2019.
The army members established camp in Ijtema area from February 4 last to complete this welfare work under the stern supervision of 14 Independent Engineer Brigades, an ISPR press release said.
The ISPR release went on saying that in keeping with the Bangladesh Army’s tradition to stand beside and work hand in hand with the common citizens at different times of national needs, the armed force has embarked on constructing the floating bridges in this year’s Biswa Ijtema.
Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslim community after Hajj, is slated to be held from February 15 to 18 on the bank of the river Turag.
