Awami League leader Shafiqul Islam Apu who was an aspirant for boat symbol in Jhenidah-2 constituency but was rejected by the party, on Friday sought vote for AL nominated candidate for the seat Tahjib Alam Siddiquee Somi.
He took part in electioneering at Old Collectorate Building area, Sonali Bank market, Pairachattar, post office intersection, and other parts of Jhenidah town.
Apu said he intended to vie for the polls from the seat, but as the party chief had nominated incumbent lawmaker Tahjib Alam Siddiquee Somi, he along with other local AL leaders and activists are now seeking vote for Somi. AL candidate Tahjib Alam Siddiquee Somi, Harinakundu upapzila AL president Mashiur Rahman Joarder, Harinakundu municipality chairman Shahinur Rahman Rintu, Juba League activist Nur E Alam Biplab among others remain present during the time.
