Anamul Haque Bijoy’s unbeaten 111 –ball 100 propels Prime Bank Cricket Club to a 9-wicket victory against Legends of Rupganj in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match at Savar yesterday.
Rupganj were sent to bat first by Prime Bank, and they were all out after scoring a mere 163 runs. In reply, Prime Bank reached the target scoring 166/1 with 111 balls to spare, thanks to Anamul’s ton, which included 12 fours and 2 maximums.
Chasing 163, openers Anamul and Rubel Miah made a 125 runs partnership for second wicket stand. Rubel, with the help of 4 fours, made 44 before departing. However, Bijoy his aggressive batting picked up his tenth century in the list ‘A’ career. In the other match in Mirpur, Abahani Limited won against Brothers Union in a close chase while ‘Narail Express’Mashrafe Bin Mortaza performs well in his first match in DPL yesterday. DPL champions Dhaka Abahani hold the dominance with a 14 run victory over Brothers Union.
Bangladesh One-day captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza returned to the ground after taking a break after New Zealand tour. Mashrafe returned from India on March 12 after vacationing with family.
Abahani scored 266 for 6 wickets in the first innings. Brothers Union innings stopped at 222 for eight in reply. Mashrafe returned in cricket through this match after New Zealand ODIs. His debut in 2019 DPL is impressive as he scores 26, not out. He also took two wickets after giving 39 runs in 8 overs.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Jamal Dhan­mondi Club aiming to score just 107 runs from Shinepukur Cricket Club. But Shinpukur could not even run it. They lost the match by 12 runs. Sheikh Jamal got out to 106 runs in 35.1 overs after batting first in Fatullah. In reply, Shinepukur were all out for 94 runs
in 28.4 overs.
