District civil surgeon of Narayanganj has taken action against the physician following a report published in the Bangladesh Post.
Dr Nazrul Islam of Narayanganj General Hospital on February 10 forcibly drove out a patient from his room for not conducting tests at prescribed private diagnostic centre, reported the newspaper on Monday.
Civil surgeon Dr Ehsanul Haq on Monday morning told this correspondent, “I have taken action against Dr Nazrul Islam for his misbehavior with an elderly female patient according to government service rule.”
The patient Jahara Khatun on January 28 went to the hospital with chest pain where Dr Nazrul Islam treated her. He prescribed some tests and medicines, and his attendant gave the name of a private diagnostic centre to complete the pathological tests there. But the patient completed her pathological test at the state-run hospital. So the doctor drove out the patient of his room when she went there on February 10.
