The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday conducted a follow-up drive at the Dhaka Central Jail aimed to check corruption and bring discipline in the jail, reports BSS.
“If necessary, the Commission will carry out probes into assets of the corrupt elements of the jail,” ACC director general (admin) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury told media.
The Commission in Wednesday’s drive found a comparatively improved situation in the jail as the real ill prisoners have replaced the ‘fake ones’ in the jail’s hospital, ACC deputy director and spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee told BSS.
The ACC also found that television, freeze, refrigerator, and oven, which were earlier installed in hospital rooms of jail, were removed from there, he said, adding that convicted Abdus Sattar, Bashirul Islam Bidyut and Ali Babu were shifted to Kashimpur Central Hospital.
The national anti-graft agency asked the jail authorities to take necessary measures to check corruption and restore discipline in Dhaka Central Jail.
