Filmmaker Arjun Dutta came into the fore with his short film ‘The 6th Element’ that made it to the Short Film Corner at Cannes. With the accolades from several international film festivals for his debut feature, ‘Abyakto’, the director is now all set to dream big. The film got selected in the prestigious Indian Panorama section of 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and competing in the Centenary awards, the film has now being selected to be screened at Bengaluru International Film Festival that will commence from February 21. “Earlier, my film got an entry in Kolkata Film Festival. It was in fact, screened in the World Section in Dhaka Film festival. In Aurangabad International Film Festival, our editor Sujay Datta Ray won award after competing with Manto and other acclaimed films. So yes, I am over the moon right now.”
The director, who is prepping up for his next feature, has always maintained that the awards and the accolades were all beyond his expectation. “I did not expect all this at all. I am so delighted that my film got selected in so many prestigious festivals. Such recognitions give me impetus to work hard and make more films that will eventually be liked by all.
Abyakto features Adil Hussain, Arpita, Anubhav Kanjilal and others. Besides Abyakto, Ranjan Ghosh’s Rong Beronger Korhi will also be screened in BIFF. Rongberonger Korhi is an anthology of four short stories. The film features Rituparna Sengupta, Chiranjeet Chakraborty, Ritwick Chakraborty, Soham Chakraborty, Kharaj Mukherjee, Arunima Ghosh, Arjun Chakrabarty and others.
