At least 81 people were held in police drives conducted from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning.

In Satkhira, police arrested 51 persons including two activists of Jamaat-E-Islami and an activist of BNP from eight upazilas of the district, reports BSS.

During the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested 12 persons, Kalaroa Thana police arrested seven persons, Tala Thana police arrested five persons including an activist of Jamaat-E-Islami, Kaliganj Thana police arrested seven persons, Shyamnagar Thana police arrested four persons, Assasuni Thana police arrested seven persons, Patkelghata Thana police arrested six persons including an activist of Jamaat-E-Islami and an activist of BNP and Debhata police arrested three persons.

The arrested people are accused in several cases, including charges of subversive activities, filed with different police stations in the district.

In Dinajpur, law enforcers arrested 30 persons including 12 drug traders and two activists of BNP from different areas of the district.

Law enforcers also seized 150 bottles of Phensidyl, nine kgs of Ganja and 200 pieces of Yaba tablets during the drives.

During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested eight persons including two activists of BNP, Birganj Thana police arrested five persons including three drug traders along with nine kgs of Ganja, Phulbari Thana police arrested three drug traders, Birampur Thana police arrested two persons,

Kaharole Thana police arrested two persons, Nawabganj Thana police arrested two persons and Chirirbandar Thana police arrested two persons.

Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained six drug traders along with 200 pieces of Yaba tablets and 150 bottles of Phensidyl around 6am from Hili Railway Station in Hakimpur upazila of the district.

Later, the detained persons were handed over to the Hakimpur Thana police, BGB said.
