Police detained 53 persons from different areas of Dinajpur and habiganj in a 12-hour drive ending at 9am Friday morning, reports BSS.
Law enforcers, in special drives detained 19 persons including five drug traders and three activists of Jamaat-E-Islami from different areas of Dinajpur in last 12-hour ending at 8am Friday morning.
Law enforcers also seized 410 bottles of Phensidyl and 80 pieces of Yaba tablets during the drives.
Police said they were picked up from different areas of Dinajpur on different charges.
During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested five persons including two drug traders along with 80 pieces of Yaba tablets and 50 bottles of Phensidyl, Biral Thana police arrested two persons, Khansama Thana police arrested one person, Phulbari Thana police arrested one person, Parbatipur Thana police arrested two persons, Birganj Thana police arrested two persons and Nawabganj Thana police arrested three activists of Jamaat-E-Islam. Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added. Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained three drug traders along with 360 bottles of Phensidyl around 6am from Hili Railway Station in Hakimpur upazila of the district.
Later, the detained persons were handed over to the Hakimpur Thana police, BGB said.
The detainees were sent to jail.
Meanwhile, Habiganj police detained 34 persons including 23 wanted accused and 11 accused in regular cases from different areas of the district in last 12-hour ending at 9am Friday morning. Detective Branch (DB) of police sources said, they were picked up from different areas of the district on different charges. Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
The arrested were sent to jail.
