Of the 34 candidates who submitted nomination papers for the 4 parliamentary seats of Cox’s Bazar, 30 were declared legal while 4 have had their papers rejected, as per an announcement by Cox’s Bazar commissioner and returning officer Md Kamal Hossain on Sunday.
Speaking to Bangladesh Post the commissioner and returning officer said, the nomination of Jatiya Party candidate Muhammad Mohibullah was rejected for loan default and no submission of declaration of wealth and nomination of Maheshkhali upazila BNP leader and independent candidate Abu Bakar Siddik was rejected for forgery of constituent signatures.
­He said Cox’s Bazar municipal AL chairman Md Najibul Islam’s nomination for Cox’s Bazar-3 (Ramu) and Cox’s Bazar-4 (Ukhia-Teknaf) independent candidate Palangkhali UP chairman Gafur Uddin Chowdhury’s nomination papers were rejected due to incomplete applications.
