On the last day for submission of nomination papers, 34 candidates submitted their nominations to the District Returning Officer for four Cox’s Bazar constituencies to contest the upcoming 11th national polls.
District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamal Hossain received the nomination forms.
In the much-talked Cox’s Bazar 4 (Ukiah-Teknaf) constituency, Awami League nominated candidate Shahin Akhtar, wife of present lawmaker from the seat Abdur Rahman Bodi, submitted her nomination papers taking her husband with her. Among the 34 aspirants from the tourist city three are women. Contacted, Mohammad Kamal Hossain said that among the four seats of Cox’s Bazar, 8 aspirants submitted nomination papers for Cox’s Bazar-1, 12 for Cox’s Bazar-2, 6 for Cox’s Bazar-3 and 8 submitted for Cox’s Bazar-8. According to sources, those who submitted nominations from Cox’s Bazar-1 (Chakaria-Pekua) Hasina Ahmed (BNP), Ali Azgar (Islami Andolon), Muhammad Faisal (Independent), Abu Md Basirul Alam (Workers Party) Badiul Alam (rebel candidate from AL), Tania Afrin (Independent), Maulvi Ilias (JP) and Zafar Alam (rebel from AL) submitted their nominations.
