The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection in a drive has fined three dispensaries at Baranawpara Bazar area under Lauhajang upazila in Munshignaj.
A total of Tk 6000 were realised from the three dispensaries during a drive on Wednesday. The dispensaries are Krishna Pharmacy, Banani Pharmacy and M/S Khan Drug House.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Munshiganj district office of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Asif Al Azad led the drive.
Nazrul Hasan, Sanitary Inspector of Lauhajang upazila, was also present during the drive. Police also assisted the drive of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.
Under the Consumer Prevention of Conservation Act 2009, the Krishna Pharmacy and the Banani Pharmacy were fined Tk 4000 for selling the date expired medicines, while the M/S Khan Drug House was fined Tk 2000 for selling the at higher price than the rate, said Asif Al Azad.
During the drive, stickers, leaflets and pamphlets on Consumer Prevention of Conservation Act-2009 were distributed among the consumers and traders.
The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection will continue the campaign, said officials.
The officials also said that they will make awareness among the traders in this regard.
