Law enforcers in special drives arrested 25 persons including nine drug traders and two activists of Jamaat-E-Islami from different areas of Dinajpur on Tuesday, reports BSS.
Law enforcers also seized 160 bottles of Phensidyl and 2,000 pieces of cowfattening tablets during the drives.
Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district ondifferent charges.During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested five persons including two drug traders along with 60 bottles of Phensidyl, Biral Thana police arrested three drug traders, Birganj Thana police arrested four persons including two activists of Jamaat-E-Islami, Bochaganj Thana police arrested one person, Nawabganj Thana police arrested two persons, Phulbari Thana police arrested three persons and Chirirbandar Thana police arrested three persons.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained\ four drug traders along with 100 bottles of Phensidyl and 2,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets around 11pm from Hili Railway Station in Hakimpur upazila of the district. Later, the detained persons were handed over to the Hakimpur Thana police, BGB said.
The arrested persons were sent to jail.
