At least two people were killed and six others were injured in a road accident on Dhamurhat-Naogaon road at Kokiler More under Dhamoirhat upazila in Naogaon on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Kawsar Rahman, 42, a cattle trader of Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur district and son of Khayeruddin of Hili village in Hakimpur upazila of the district, and human hauler driver Manik Hossain, 27, of Chapainawabganj district.
Witnesses said that the accident took place around 4:00 am when a human hauler locally known as Bhatbhati carrying traders and cattle hit a roadside tree and turned turtle, leaving the two people dead on the spot and six others injured.
Officer-in-charge of Dhamoirhat police station Zakirul Islam told said that that the accident happed as the driver lost control over the steering. The vehicle was going to Birampur in Dinajpur.
The bodies were recovered from the spot and the injured are undergoing treatment at Joypurhat Sistrict Sadar Hospital, he added.
