The two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident in Rajshahi on Sunday. They were killed when a truck smashed their bike in Puthia upazila in the district in the morning.

The deceased were identified as Emon Ali, 24, son of Jeker Ali, resident of Boiragipara area, and Suzon Islam, 26, son of Nazrul Islam, resident of Tokipur area under Rajshahi city’s airport police station.

A speeding truck overturned near Tarapur area on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway around 8:30 am and rammed into a motorcycle on which the duo were riding, leaving Emon dead on the spot and Suzon injured. He was taken Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) with critical condition, said Poba highway police outpost in-charge Mustafijur Rahman.

Later, Suzon was declared dead in the hospital by the doctors.

The truck driver managed to flee the scene after the incident. Police were trying to arrest the accused driver, said officer-in-charge of Puthia police station Shakil Uddin Ahmed.

Earlier on Thursday, a man was also injured as a three-wheeler hit a trolley at Kaliganj area under Tanore upazila.

The injured man was identified as Babul Hossain, 45, son of late Mohobbat, resident of Eranodio village in the upazila.

Later, he was admitted to RMCH for his treatment but died in the hospital on Sunday. Officer-in-charge of Tanore police station Rezaul Islam confirmed the matter.
