The University Grants Commission (UGC) today will award 163
meritorious students from public and private universities with the Prime Minister Gold Medal-2017 in recognition of their academic achievements.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to distribute the awards to the students as the chief guest at a programme at Shapla Hall in her office, says a press release.
The students who achieved highest marks/CGPA in their respective facullties wil be awarded.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, and Secretary for Secondary and Higher Education Division of Education Ministry Md Sohorab Hossain will be present as special guests on the occasion.
UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan will preside over the function while UGC Member Professor Dr Dil Afroza Begum is scheduled to deliver the welcome address.
Ministers, advisers to PM, national professors, former UGC chairmen, secretaries of different ministries, UGC members, vice-chancellors from public and private universities, educationists,
officials from PMO and UGC
along with parents and guardians, among others, will also be
present.
It is to state that the Prime Minister Gold Medal was introduced in 2005 with a view to encouraging the country’s talented university students.
