The ‘16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence’ campaign will begin on Sunday as well as November 25, the day of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, with the theme ‘Orange the World: #HearMeToo’.
The international campaign will end on December 10, the day of International Human Rights Day.
The 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a campaign to end violence against women and girls around the world.
The international campaign originated from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership in 1991.
The campaign will also be held in Dhaka like other parts of the world. Karmojibi Nari, a right based organization working for women, and some other platforms will observe the campaign.
Karmojibi Nari will organize Garment Women Workers gathering and cultural program at Mirpur in Dhaka tomorrow (November 23). Rahela Rabbani, Director of Karmojibi Nari, in a press release issued on Thursday said that they are organizing the event for raising voices of women workers on violence against women and girls in community and workplaces as a part of the global movement to end VAWG (violence against women and girls). They are also organizing the event remembering the departed workers in Tazreen incident which took place November 24 in 2012.
