Two-day Pharma Fest begins at DU

Dhaka University (DU), Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Club jointly introduced two-day long 'Pharma Fest-2024' on Sunday, at Mokarram Hossain Khandkar Science Building premises of Dhaka University. 

Professor Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), Dhaka University inaugurated this fest. Md. Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Member of Parliament (MP) and Chairman of Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited was present as the chief guest

Professor Dr SM Abdur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacy was in the chair of the fest, Dr. Feroj Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy was present as special guest. Md. Ilyas al-Mamun, Convenor of the fest gave a welcome speech in the fest. Sushmita Talukder, General Secretary, Pharmacy Club conducted the program.

Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar said, Dhaka University Pharmacy Faculty is making an important contribution in meeting the needs of the country's pharmacy sector and in research and innovation in the pharmaceutical industry. He mentioned that new projects will be accepted and implemented in the university with the cooperation of the government and related parties. 

We all have to work together to ensure the research environment, infrastructural development, installation of modern equipment in laboratories, modernization of classrooms and further increase the quality of education. He urged teachers, researchers and pharmacists to work with professionalism.

Md. Nasser Shahrear Zahedee , MP emphasized on research and innovation as well as strengthening the industry-academic relationship to advance the country's pharmaceutical industry. The pharmacist profession should be created in public and private hospitals and communities rather than being associated with the industry. He urged the teachers, researchers, students and pharmacists to work together to achieve social recognition of pharmacists.

Pharma Olympiad, debate competition, poster presentation and lectures is also being organised. As a part othe fest. Teachers, students, researchers, pharmacists and representatives of drug regulatory agencies and drug manufacturing organizations participated in the pharmafest.
