Govt initiative to empower youth thru technical training

Published : 18 Apr 2024 09:14 PM

The government has launched the Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) project, aiming to equip more than 2 lakh trainees with technical expertise. Under this initiative, unemployed youth will have access to a comprehensive 360-hours training program over four months, completely free of cost.

Trainees will receive a monthly allowance to support their learning journey. General participants will receive Tk 1,500, while trainees from marginalized groups such as women, disabled individuals, and minority ethnic communities will receive Tk 2,000 per month. Additionally, each trainee will be eligible for a travel allowance of up to Tk 1,760 per month, calculated at a rate of Tk 80 per day. To ensure equitable access, trainees can pursue higher-level training within the same course but are restricted from enrolling in multiple courses simultaneously. All financial disbursements, including honorariums and training allowances, will be facilitated through secure banking channels or mobile banking platforms. This initiative not only addresses unemployment but also fosters skill development among the youth, enhancing their prospects in the job market. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact their nearest training institute to enroll in this transformative program.

The ASSET project reflects the government's commitment to empowering the youth by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to thrive in today's competitive economy. By investing in technical training and offering financial support, the government aims to catalyze economic growth and social development across the nation.
