We greet the countrymen as well as the Muslims across the world, our patrons, valued readers, advertisers, and well-wishers on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festivals of the Muslim Ummah, which is likely to be celebrated in the country tomorrow (Wednesday). The Islamic calendar follows lunar cycles, causing the dates for Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Azha to shift each year.

The Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Bangladesh tomorrow if the Shawwal moon is sighted today (Tuesday). However, Eid will be celebrated on Thursday if the new moon is not sighted today.

As Ramadan 2024 wraps up, Muslims are gearing to spot the Shawwal moon which will mark the date of Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 and the start of a new month in the Islamic lunar calendar.

On this sacred and august occasion, we pray for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country, the Muslim Ummah, and for interfaith harmony and global peace.

After the month-long fasting, the holy Eid-ul-Fitr comes to people with the message of immense happiness and joy. The joy of Eid spreads among everyone in villages and all over the country as well as all over the world. Forgetting all differences on Eid day, people of all classes and professions join in one row and share the joy of Eid.

Eid builds bonds of amity, harmony and unity among all. We hope that the lesson of Eid-ul-Fitr will spread among all and develop a prosperous Bangladesh in the days to come.

Islam embraces universal welfare, including human values, mutual coexistence, tolerance and equality. This noble message and ideology of Islam should be spread among all.

The affluent of the society will have to stand by the poor so that everyone can enjoy the joy of Eid equally, irrespective of rich and poor. May the meaning and underlying significance of Islam spread among all as a guide to the emancipation of humanity and may the world be filled with peace and harmony.

Eid builds

 bonds of amity,

harmony and unity

among all

Eid teaches a unique lesson of peace, sympathy and brotherhood. Forgetting hatred and violence, people are bound by the bonds of equality, friendship and harmony.

Eid brings a message of joy in the life of everyone irrespective of the rich and the poor. We hope, the self-purification, moderation, and harmony of the Muslims will pervade in lives of individual, family, society and state.

May the life of every person be filled with happiness and endless joy of the holy Eid. All must avoid all kinds of injustice, lawlessness, violence and superstition to establish the spirit of Islam at all levels of individual, social and national life in the country.

A vast number of people already left the capital city of Dhaka, other metropolitan cities and district towns to celebrate the  festival with their near and dear ones. The city’s Sadarghat lunch terminal, Sayedabad, Gabtoli and Mahakhali bus terminals and Kamalapur and Airport railway stations saw a huge crowd of home-goers as people are leaving the capital to enjoy the festival at their village homes till Monday night.

Therefore, surveillance and monitoring by different law enforcement agencies will have be beefed up to stop crimes during the holy Eid-ul-Fitr across the country. In this regard, authorities concerned will conduct mobile courts during the Eid to stop malpractices. On this occasion, let us pledge to build a society that is based on the values of the spirit of sacrifice, love, faith and affection for all.
