Bashundhara Kings blank Rahmatganj to book room in semis

Bashundhara Kings moved into the semifinal in the Fed Cup football after a struggling 2-0 win over Rahmatganj MFS on Tuesday.

Held at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium, Gopalganj, in enormous hot and humidity, referee had to call for cooling break once in each sessions. 

However, Bashudhara Kings, the title aspirants took the lead through Sohel Rana. The veteran midfielder Sohel Rana marked the target with a brilliants effort. Bashundhara captain Robson Robinho set a beautiful cross inside the area to Sohel Rana, who beat Rahmatganj custodian Mamun Alif, who failed to save the powerful shot on 24th minute (1-0). Rahmatganj, who were looked a different sides in the Independence Cup and at the early of the ongoing Premier League, trailing by a goal, tried hard to have an equalizer before the break. Rahmatganj were closer to level the margin on 42nd minute but their Ghanaian forward after edging past the Bashundhara defender Tapu Barman took his powerful shot straight to goalkeeper Mehidi Hasan Srabon. 

Kings after a huge struggle extended the tally on 62nd minute this time also Brazilian playmaker Robson provided an excellent cross for on rushing Mfon Udah who just sent the ball into top of the net over the advancing goalkeeper of his old team (2-0). In the injury time Samuel squandered an easy chance at least to reduce the margin for Rahmatganj when his shot from inside box did not found the net. 

The third quarterfinal match of the Federation Cup will take place at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium, Gopalganj on next Tueday with Sheikh Jamal facing Bangladesh Police FC and the last quarterfinal will be held between Abahani Limited and Fortis FC at the Bashundara Kinsg Arena last week of this month.
